New Drawings and Rebooting the Leeds Sketchers
It's coming up to a year since I started my drawing blog, so I thought I would start revisiting some drawings I did back then.
From January 2009, Here is my drawing of the tendons on the finger
And from January 2010, Here is my drawing of the tendons on the finger

You can view them full size and the original posts, by clicking here .
In other news, I have taken over the reigns of the Leeds Sketching Group, which sadly has been a bit dead for the last few months, but I'm hoping to reboot it, and get some life back into it. Our first new meeting is next sunday week. If you are a sketcher in Leeds then come along! details here

Rock Porn
I've just updated my smokeback site, with a few new drawings. There is a Posterior View of the Cranial Nerves and a Anterolateral View Of The Inner Ear to tickle your fancy.
The real treat is however, I have retired my one arm manikin and have a new model , "Latin Rock" which is a piece of Hematite I picked up from Mt.Revelstoke in Canada. Whats interesting about Hematite I hear you cry ? Well lots actually, but taking a guess at my current readership of this blog, I think you will appreciate this little fact
In 2001, Egyptian government archaeologist Zahi Hawass was the first to enter a previously undisturbed tomb, believed to be that of an ancient regional mayor, in the Bahariya Oasis below the town of Bawiti. Upon entering the burial chamber, Hawass discovered a booby trap consisting of 8 inches of finely powdered hematite dust covering the floor and sarcophagus.[ When disturbed by a tomb robber, the sharp, metallic dust was intended to become airborne and irritate the skin, eyes and mucous membranes, eventually causing lethal siderosis if exposed for long enough. The archaeological team was forced to retreat and don full body suits and respirators in order to confirm the identity of the mummy. Hawass cites the ancient Egyptians' experience with powdered hematite as a paint pigment as proof that they were aware of its irritating properties.[6]
Now onto the Porn, here are some photos from a cheeky photo shoot I had with Latin rock earlier today.

New Drawing Up on Smokeback.com
This time of my left ear. Just as an experiement I am linking this image from the post to see if that makes any difference to it appearing in search results.
Following on from my crap left over from blogger post is the labels tag has now dissapeared from google, along with all my images! there still some cached under 2009 which I have now asked to be removed.
Traffic is down a fair bit due to the images dissapearing from search results, but on the plus side, this does give us a opportunity to see if linking images increases their search position.
You can see the original post for this image here

Even more Crap Left Over From Blogger to WordPress
Following on from more crap left over ... I am still getting a fair chunk of traffic from google cached pages of my site, which I imagine is annoying for the visitor, as all they will get is a list of broken links.
The Image on the left shows the top ten landing pages for November. Anything with a .html does not exist anymore.
After much searching around, I am trying out the google URL removal tool. Which you can find in Google webmaster tools under crawler access on a non obvious tab.
As a test, I am trying out both a URL and an entire directory. According to the help I also need to update my robots file as well. All in all my experience of google webmaster tools has been highly confusing and I am left currently at the moment with a pending status in the hands of google.
I guess its now a case of watch this space...
More drawings up on Smokeback
Should really think about coming up with a logo for my drawing site, but for now I will just recycle the Manikin picture.
I've just added a drawing of the Ossicles up on smokeback.com
Seems the traffic is begining to pick up on that site again after dropping just shy of a thousand visits through Novemeber from the move from blogger to wordpress.

More Crap Left Over from moving from Blogger to Wordpress
Following on from my post Crap left over... , I noticed on google webmaster tools that my site had been rescanned and along with all the new paths on wordpress , there is still old paths appearing.
having another look around the server, I did notice an old index file, which was renamed index-old.html. 'am wondering if google is scanning this...

Last Mention Of My Drawing Blog
For today...
Just added the images from my drawing blog on to an album/stream or whatever you call it on flickr , which you can see here
To be honest, not a huge fan of flickr, much prefer fotki , however I am hoping that having the pictures up there, will drive a bit more traffic to my site

Crap left over from Deleting A Blogger Site
My Smokeback site originally was on blogger, but at the start of November I moved it over to wordpress. After backing up the blog, I deleted the blog from the blogger dashboard and all that seems to do, is to remove it from ... the dashboard.
On the server itself all the folders and files were still there, I deleted the folders but only noticed that I had left the old atom and rss files on the root the other day.
I have taken a drop of hits since moving over, and I was wondering why old urls were appearing in results as according to webtools, my site had been rescanned. I am wondering if this might of been the cause...

Lend me your ears
Just added a few more posts to my drawing blog , including a drawing of one of the smallest bones in the human body, the stapes.
For a while the blog was using blogger, but I moved it over to wordpress a few weeks ago. I have seemed to have a drop of traffic in the move , but I think that is slowly beginning to pick up now. Main reason I moved it over to wordpress was to make it more user friendly with the following elements
1) Tag Cloud
2)Categories
3)Related posts
All of which can be done with much ease of wordpress.
